I’ve been noticing that hijab has become an extremely difficult subject to talk about. Its important to get hijab right because the deeds that you get from it can be negated if done improperly. And yes, there is an improper form of hijab, as stated by hadith. Pretty much anything that don’t fit these requirements down below and I’m not saying that you can’t incorporate your culture with hijab but if it doesn’t fit the requirements of hijab leave it alone Inshallah because Islam is a way of life and culture is culture, it can earn you a spot in the hell fire. For example its the Irish culture to drink a lot. And I know Irish folk.

Ruling on hijab:

1.Clothing must cover the entire body, only the hands and face may remain visible (According to some Fiqh Schools) .

2.The material must not be so thin that one can see through it.

3.The clothing must hang loose so that the shape / form of the body is not apparent. (This is for the entire body)

4.The female clothing must not resemble the man’s clothing.

5.The design of the clothing must not resemble the clothing of the non believing women.

6.The design must not consist of bold designs which attract attention. (This is probably the one I use to struggle with the most)

7.Clothing should not be worn for the sole purpose of gaining reputation or increasing one’s status in society.

” Say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty ; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof. ” [Quran : 24.31]
